About Us

At the Cook Street Village Activity Centre Society, we believe that aging is something to celebrate. Since 1976, we’ve been creating a welcoming space where adults 50+ can connect, grow, and thrive, through meaningful activities, shared meals, lifelong learning, and lasting friendships.

We’re a non-profit, membership-based organization that listens deeply to our community. Over the years, we’ve grown and evolved by staying rooted in what matters most: belonging, purpose, and joy. Whether it’s fitness, wellness, movies, music, food programs, or speaker events, our programs are designed to keep you active, engaged, and inspired.

While membership is open to anyone 50 and over, everyone is welcome at CSVAC, whether you’re joining a class, volunteering, or just dropping in for coffee and conversation. No matter how you connect with us, you'll find a place where you belong.

With the support of nearly 200 dedicated volunteers and a caring team of staff, we are proud to be an active part of the broader community. We work alongside organizations like the Cook Street Village Business Association, Volunteer Victoria, and the Community Partnership Network to build a stronger, more inclusive neighborhood.

This is more than just a centre, it’s a community.

Come for the fun, stay for the friends.
We can’t wait to meet you!

Creating Connections

We’re a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults aged 50+ and better through a vibrant mix of recreational, educational, social, and wellness programs. Our goal is to foster connection, purpose, and joy in every stage of later life.

🌿 Recreation
From fitness classes and creative arts to games and seasonal outings, our programs offer fun, low-pressure ways to stay active and engaged. Whether you’re trying something new or enjoying a longtime hobby, there’s something here for you.

📚 Education
We believe learning never stops. Our workshops, talks, and classes are designed to keep minds sharp, skills growing, and curiosity alive; covering everything from tech basics to local history and beyond.

🤝 Social Connection
Friendship and community matter. Through social clubs, volunteer opportunities, and casual gatherings, we help members build meaningful relationships and stay connected.

💚 Wellness
We support holistic health, offering resources and programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. From yoga and walking groups to mindfulness sessions and peer support, we care for the whole person.

Above all, we’re here to celebrate this stage of life, by creating a place where adults 50+ can thrive, belong, and continue to grow.

We acknowledge with respect the Lkwungen peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we gather, learn, and serve. We also recognize the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical and ongoing relationships with the land continue to this day.
